Long before Arizona became a state, the territorial capital kept shifting from Prescott to Tucson before finally settling down in Phoenix. The present Arizona Capital Museum, was built in 1898 as a state building with a copper roof and the statue of the ‘winged victory’.
Today the building restored in 1912 still stands. It is open to public and displays the senate, house chambers and the Governor’s office. Exquisite exhibits provide an interesting peek into the tales of the past Arizona.
There is a free guided tour from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
